Killing time. Chapter ten.

Only man eats while not hungry.

Plan “D” had been perfect. It would’ve worked, perfectly.

Plan “D” was basically plan “A”, but with a new protagonist, someone with the youth and vitality to make it the rest of the way back and complete the mission. The new protagonist could have succeeded where his predecessor had not and saved us all from the Hell that awaits. He would’ve created a paradox of such complexity and intricacy that all of space and time would’ve ceased to have ever existed, in an instant. Just “puff”, gone, wiped away like the chalk from the board. Every instant, every moment, every atom, all of existence, gone. Just gone. No pain, no suffering, just nothing. Nothing ever. No ever, no never, no once, no again, no before. All gone in the blink of an eye. Not even “gone”, really, just “never was”. Our suffering, the suffering of every soul that ever walked or will walk the Earth, undone and rewritten as oblivion.

So, thought the old man as he inhaled slowly and waited in the corridor with a tear in his eye, plan “B” it would have to be.

Plan “D” had been perfect. Alas, man is not.
